Privacy notice

The controller for the personal data in this portal is M. Malik Holding B.V. (Kuanta), Schermlaan 58, 3021 KM Rotterdam, the Netherlands, Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number 86552481. The Philips Innovation Award board uses the portal to run the competition and sees the applications in it. Contact: privacy@kuanta.ai.

Your profile: name, email address, gender, date of birth, phone number, city, and, if you give them, country, title, company, experience, expertise and social media channels. The board asks these of everyone who registers. Everything you type into an application, including for each team member their name, gender, age on 1 September 2026, graduation month and year, and institution. A logo and any illustrations you add. When you invite someone, their email address. A log of who changed what in an application, and technical logs of access to the portal.

Gender and age are collected for the board's eligibility check and its statistics. They have no influence on the assessment.

To run the competition you entered: creating your application, letting your team edit it, putting it in front of the jury and telling you the outcome. This is necessary to perform the agreement you enter when you apply.

The evaluation software made by Kuanta reads the text of your application and produces a score and notes. The board sees these after the jury has made a first selection. People, not the software, decide who advances. This is part of running the competition.

Kuanta keeps submitted applications and their evaluations after the competition, so it can run the service, answer questions about a result, and compare its scores with the board's decisions. This rests on Kuanta's legitimate interest in running and checking its evaluation. Kuanta does not use your application or your personal data to train its models. Names, contact details and the team roster are removed before an application is used for any comparison, and it has no effect on your application. You can object at any time by writing to the address above.

If you tick the optional box when you start an application, Kuanta may add your startup to its startup database, with the application as it is, personal details included, so Kuanta can show it to investors and programmes that use that database. That rests on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by writing to the address above. Withdrawing has no effect on your application.

If you tick the optional box about investors and partners in the Profile section of your application, PHIA may share your startup's details from the application, including your contact details, with investors and partners of the Philips Innovation Award, so they can contact you directly about investment or partnership opportunities. That rests on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unticking the box or by writing to b.bleeksma@phia.nl. It has no effect on the assessment.

If you tick the optional box about the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards, right below it, PHIA may share your startup's details from the application with EO (Entrepreneurs' Organization), so it can assess your eligibility for the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards. That rests on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by unticking the box or by writing to b.bleeksma@phia.nl. It has no effect on the assessment.

Members of the Philips Innovation Award board, and jury members assigned to your application, who see it without your contact details unless the board decides otherwise. Providers that host the portal and send its email: Vercel (the portal), Namecheap (Kuanta's own servers), MongoDB (database), Amazon Web Services (file storage, S3), Microsoft 365 (email), and the model providers Kuanta uses for the evaluation, which see the text of an application without names or contact details. Each processes data only on our instructions. If you ticked the optional box about investors and partners, also those investors and partners, and if you ticked the one about the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards, also EO, as described above.

The board can view the profiles of everyone registered in the portal and export their contact details. It can also export gender and age, but only for its statistics, and without names or contact details. For its own use of such an export, for example a mailing list, PHIA is responsible as a separate controller.

Applications are kept for two years after the edition closes, then deleted. Account details are kept while you have an account. Logs are kept for 90 days.

You can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, have it deleted, or receive a copy in a portable format. You can object to processing based on our legitimate interests and withdraw any consent you gave. Write to privacy@kuanta.ai. You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
